What if I have joined the wrong County?

There is no "wrong" County to join. Members are free to join whichever County (or Counties) they wish, as long as they belong to at least one County and one Region.

Many members choose their County based on where they feel they will get the most benefit, or where they most want to be involved.

If your club is located outside a geographical County area (for example OOBAC), but you want to access the support and services of a County such as Lincolnshire, here is what you need to know:

If you are an existing member, Lincolnshire will already be listed on your record. You do not need to change anything — you will automatically join Lincolnshire when you next renew.
If you are a new member, your club will advise you to select Lincolnshire when joining. However, if you choose a different County, you can still join the club if both you and the club are happy with this.
It is perfectly normal to be a member of more than one club, or more than one County and Region.

What if I do not use email or pay online?

We understand that not everyone manages their membership online. If this applies to you, there are several options that may help:

Ask a trusted person — such as a family member or a friend at your club — to help you renew. You could also set up Autorenewal so that your payment continues automatically each year without you needing to remember.
If you would like someone at your club to have access to your membership record, you can authorise this with Archery GB. To do so, email membership@archerygb.org with your name, membership number, and the name and email of the person you are authorising. Alternatively, call 01952 677888 to do this over the phone — please have your membership details to hand. Please do this before August.
Your club can help by asking all members to log in before August, check their details are correct, and watch the renewal walkthrough video for guidance.

If you are struggling and none of the above work for you, please contact your club or County representative and we will do our best to help.

How can clubs check membership at the field, without logging in each time?

Clubs are responsible for making clear to members that valid Archery GB membership must be in place before shooting. Members receive multiple reminders to help them keep on top of this, and the responsibility ultimately rests with each individual member.

To make checking straightforward, three Smart Lists are available to club administrators on Sport:80. These update automatically and show:

Members with valid current membership (which can be downloaded and sorted by renewal date)
Members whose membership expired in the last 30 days
Members whose membership expires in the next 30 days

These lists can be viewed on screen for a quick check, or downloaded as a spreadsheet. Periodically reviewing these lists is the recommended approach, rather than checking individually before each session.

If proof of membership is needed on the day, members can show it in any of the following ways:

The confirmation email received when they paid, or a printed copy of that email
A digital e-card (for example saved in a Wallet App), which also contains a QR code — scanning this shows additional information including County, Region, qualifications and licences
A plastic membership card, if one was requested and has arrived by post (please note: University and School club members receive e-cards only, not plastic cards)
Their membership number or email address, which a club Secretary or Tournament Organiser can enter into the Member Search function to check whether membership is current

Clubs, Counties, and Tournament Organisers are within their rights to ask anyone to show proof of valid membership at any time.

Will clubs be notified when a member renews or joins?

For existing members who renew, there are no email notifications sent to the club. The best way to stay up to date is by using the Smart Lists described above, which are always current and avoid filling up the Secretary’s inbox.

When a brand new member joins a club for the first time (or a member transfers), the club they have linked themselves to will receive an email notification. The club can then get in touch if needed — for example to collect fees or to follow up if the member is not yet known to the committee.

Please note: receiving this notification does not automatically confirm someone is a club member. Club membership is for the club to manage, and the member to arrange and pay for separately.

A club can choose to decline the link request, but please be aware this will prevent that member from linking to your club in future. This option should only be used as a last resort and where there is good reason, such as following a disciplinary process.

What happens if someone cancels their payment after joining?

Once a payment has been received and processed, it cannot be withdrawn. Across the whole of the UK over the last five years, only one person has ever successfully cancelled a payment in time to affect their membership — so this is extremely unlikely to be an issue.

In the rare event that it does happen, the system would automatically remove the memberships linked to that payment. Because membership payments are now split across three separate bank accounts in a single transaction, this would be particularly complex to resolve. The Archery GB Membership Team would need to be involved to support in such a case.

How are membership payments handled?

When you renew or join for the first time, Archery GB collects your membership payment and automatically passes the relevant portion on to your Region and County. You only ever need to make one payment in one place.

There is no need to pay your Region or County separately — it is all taken care of behind the scenes. This is designed to keep things simple for members and to take the pressure off the volunteers who run clubs and Counties.

Group decision after short discussion is as follows:

Recurve: 5 Men and 4 Women with 4 & 3 to count

Compound: 3 Men and 2 Women " 2 & 1 "

Longbow: 2 Men and 1 Woman " 1 & 1 "

Barebow: 3 Men and 2 Women " 2 & 1 "

It was also decided for this year that each discipline could have one 50+ archer (either man or woman), it was agreed that this would be Optional.

Deadline for entries to be sent to the TO of Bowmen of Rutland is: Sunday 24 ^th August 2025.

Can I say a big thank you for your enthusiasm and team effort at yesterday’s Thoresby shoot. It was a very hot day and it was obvious that some of us are sun worshippers and others struggle with the heat. I hope you have all cooled down, possibly with the assistance of a beer or 2.

Captain of the Sword ( highest scoring recurve)
was Ian Macrae, the highest scoring compound trophy was won by a lady for the first time by Julie Almond with two new county records, husband Kenny Almond won the Gents Compound, Ioan Macrae won the junior gent compound. All from Silver Spoon Bowmen. Michael Wilritch AGB Direct won the gents barebow.

We had archers from out of the county all of whom medalled in their own discipline

Success For The Juniors

Ours juniors shot in the Sydney Bond yesterday.

It was success in the boys compound team where Oscar and Ewan won the team trophy.

Oscar also won the boys individual.

Holly came first for the girls recurve.
